Amul, Pepsi, Puma join ISL as partners

10 October 2014

Amul, Pepsi, Puma and Dr Reddy’s Nise Gel have joined the Indian Super League as partners.

Hero was the first company that came on-board two months back as the title sponsor. Yesterday TelevisionPost.com had reported that Muthoot Group and Maruti Suzuki had also joined.
Thus, as of now a total of seven brands from diverse industry verticals are sponsors and partners for the league.
The league is set to kick off on 12 October at the Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata.
The opening ceremony of the league will be telecast starting 6 pm on eight channels of the Star network. It will also be aired on www.starsports.com. The on-ground stadium entertainment will start 5:20 pm onwards. A highlight will be a performance by Priyanka Chopra.
Star India COO Sanjay Gupta said, “We are a few days away from the kick-off of the Hero Indian Super League and it has gained excellent traction as is evident in the number of sponsors lined up to support the league. The response from sponsors has been overwhelming and the league has attracted a wide range of marketers from a variety of industries. Hero is the Title Sponsor for the league while Maruti Suzuki has signed on as the Associate Sponsor for the league. The league will also be supported by FMCG, sports and finance brands like Amul, Pepsi and Puma, along with Muthoot Finance and Dr Reddy’s Nise Gel.
“We welcome these brands on board to support the Hero Indian Super League, a league that is bound to change the development trajectory of Indian Football. Football is an aspirational sport with mass appeal and a deep youth connect. This is a historic opportunity for brands to be part of the birth of a footballing nation.”
The Hero ISL is co-promoted by IMG-Reliance (the joint venture between IMG and Reliance Industries) and Star India, along with the support of All India Football Federation (AIFF). India’s leading industrialists and celebrities from sports as well as the Indian film industry have invested in owning the eight city franchises of the Indian Super League.
In addition to Chopra, the opening ceremony will have key performances by percussionist Sivamani and Salim Merchant of the Salim and Suleiman duo.
Following the opening ceremony, viewers will witness the opening match between Atletico De Kolkata and Mumbai City FC.
The Hero ISL will feature eight franchises and 61 matches over 70 days. The top four franchises in the league will contest the semi-finals and the victorious semi-finalists will meet in the grand final. Tickets for all league matches including the opening ceremony and the first match of the league can now be booked online.
