GEC Watch: Colors’ dominance grows to three shows in weekday top 10

Big Star Entertainment Awards on Star Plus scores 9.9 TVM while Got Talent on Colors records 6.2 TVM on New Year eve.

The first week of TAM 2015 provided a good start to most of the Hindi general entertainment channels. While the New Year eve programmes delivered substantial gains to Star Plus and Colors, Sony gained on the back of improved viewership of its crime shows.
Big Star Entertainment Awards on Star Plus scored 9.9 TVM while Got Talent on Colors recorded 6.2 TVM on New Year eve.
The first week proved even better for Colors as the channel increased its dominance in weekday top 10 by securing three slots. According to data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 1 of TAM 2015 (December 28 – January 3) for CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus had 4 shows in weekday top 10; Zee TV had two shows and SAB TV had one show in the top 10 club this week.
‘Bigg Boss Season 8’ on Colors rated at an average viewership of 6.1 TVM for the week that included the last episode featuring Salman Khan for this season (last week 5.7).
‘Comedy Night with Kapil’ on Colors continued to rule the weekend programming followed by Sony’s CID and Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs.

Star Plus’ Diya Aur Baati Hum stayed at the top of the weekday chart with an average viewership of 10.6 TVM this week (last week 10.7 TVM).
Ye Hai Mohabbatein on Star Plus held No. 2 position with an average viewership of 9.1 TVM this week (last week 9.4 TVM).
Kumkum Bhagya on Zee TV was the third most watched fiction in the first week of TAM 2015. The show recorded an average viewership of 8.5 TVM (last week 9 TVM).
Tarak Mehta on SAB TV was unmoved at No. 4 position with an average viewership of 8 TVM (last week 8 TVM).
Sathiya Saath Nibhana on Star Plus fetched an average viewership of 7.9 TVM (last week 8 TVM).
Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai was at No. 6 position this week with an average viewership of 7.7 TVM (last week 8.2 TVM).
Sasural Simar Ka on Colors strengthened its position and was at No. 7 with an average viewership of 7.3 TVM (last week 6.8 TVM).
Udaan on Colors was at No. 8 with an average viewership of 6.9 TVM against last week’s 7 TVM.
Zee TV’s Jodha Akbar secured No. 9 position with an average viewership of 6.7 TVM (last week 6.8 TVM).
Meri Ashiqui on Colors was the third show from the channel in top 10 this week. The show fetched an average viewership of 6.7 TVM (last week 6.4 TVM).
Weekend toppers
Comedy Nights with Kapil on Colors continued to be the weekend chart topper. The show fetched an average viewership of 6.3 TVM (last week 5.5 TVM).
Sony’s crime series, CID, grew this week to 4.5 TVM against last week’s 3.4 TVM.
Zee TV’s flagship singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champsfetched 4.3 TVM in its second week after opening at 4.8 TVM last week.
Zee TV’s Neeli Chhatri Wale recorded 3.8 TVM this week (last week 3.9 TVM).
Sony’s other crime series, Crime Patrol, grew to 2.8 TVM (last week 2.4 TVM).
Maharakshak Aryan on Zee TV fetched 1.6 TVM this week (last week 2.1 TVM).
