GEC Watch: Colors no show in top-10 weekday shows

Week 49 of TAM 2013 witnessed Colors shows out from top-10 weekday shows for the first time in the recent years as its fiction programming reverts to 5 days a week. On the other hand, Zee TV grew to 3 shows in top-10.

According to TVT data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 49 (December 1 – December 7) CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus retained 6 slots in top-10 along with SAB TV holding one position.

Zee TV’s new weekday show ‘Doli Armanon Ki’ at 10.30 pm slot from Monday to Friday opened at 3.4 TVM.

Among weekend shows, ‘Comedy Night with Kapil’ on Colors remained the chart topper followed by ‘DID 4’ on Zee TV at No. 2. This weekend saw the launch of Boogie Woogie on Sony that opened strongly despite the switch off on DEN Network. Boogie Woogie opened at 4.4 TVM and was at No. 3. Sony’s ‘CID’ stood at No. 4. KBC finale episode on Sony recorded 4.1 TVM followed by ‘Nach Baliye 6’ on Star Plus at No. 6.

‘Bigg Boss 7’ on Colors recorded 5.3 TVM in Week 49 against 5.1 TVM in Week 48. 

Zee Rishtey Awards’ main event garnered 8.6 TVM over 3 ½ hours while the telecast of ‘Red Carpet’ fetched 4 TVM.

Weekday toppers (all data in TVM in 000,000’s)

Diya Aur Baati Hum on Star Plus continued to be the chart topper despite a decline in its viewership. The show recorded 10.2 TVM this week (last week 11.4 TVM).

Jodha Akbar on Zee TV also saw a slight decline and garnered 9.4 TVM in Week 49 (last week 10.2 TVM).

Star Plus’ Saathiya retained its No. 3 position with an average TVM of 8.8 (last week 8.7 TVM).

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai on Star Plus climbed one position to No. 4 recording 7.5 TVM. The show had an average TVM of 7.3 last week.

SAB’s Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashma dropped further to No. 5 position recording an average TVT of 7.2 TVM against last week’s 7.6 TVM.

Star Plus’ epic series, Mahabharat, retained No. 6 position. The show recorded an average TVM of 6.7 TVM (last week 7.2 TVM).

Pyaar Ka Dard Hai held its viewership as well as No. 7 position with 6.6 TVM (last week 6.7 TVM).

Pavitra Rishta on Zee TV entered the top-10 club at No. 8 position with 6.2 TVM (last week 5.5 TVM).

Veera on Star Plus rose to No. 9 garnering 6 TVM (last week 6.2 TVM).

Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke on Zee TV slipped two positions to No. 10 this week. The show recorded 5.9 TVM (last week 6.6 TVM).

Weekend toppersComedy Night with Kapil on Colors remained unbeatable with 7.5 TVM (last week 7.9 TVM). The show alone contributed 132 Gross TVM, amounting to 29% of the channels Gross TVM.

Dance India Dance Season 4 became the second most watched show during the weekend with 4.6 TVM (last week 4.3 TVM).

Sony’s crime series, CID, slipped to 4.2 TVM against last week’s 4.6 TVM.

KBC finale episode on Sony recorded 4.1 TVM.

Nach Baliye 6 on Star Plus fetched 3.9 TVM (last week 4.3 TVM).

Sony’s other crime show, Crime Patrol, averaged at 3.8 TVM this week against last week’s 3 TVM.

Life OK’s Shapath recorded 3.5 TVM against last week’s 3.1 TVM.

Colors’ thriller, 24, recorded 2.5 TVM (last week 2.7 TVM).

Bh Se Bhade on Zee TV grew further and fetched 2.3 TVM (last week 2.1 TVM).

Star Plus’ crime fiction, Arjun, recorded 2.2 TVM (last week 2 TVM).

Channel V plans more events

Prem Kamath, channel head, Channel V, adds, "Participation has gone up by almost 100 per cent. We have had 500-600 participants earlier, this year we had about 1000 participants in each zonal."

Star Group country head Middle East, Africa & Pakistan Sumantra (Sumo) Dutta said, “This is a landmark initiative in our quest to reach out and make the top watched and favourite Star channels available to the widest set of viewers.”
