GEC Watch: Star Plus, Colors gain from New Year eve programming

Sony, SAB TV, Life OK, Zee TV and Sony Pal also add more eyeballs in Week 1 of TAM 2015.

Riding on their New Year eve programming, the viewership of Star Plus and Colors grew in the first week of TAM 2015. Sony, SAB TV, Life OK, Zee TV and Sony Pal were the other Hindi general entertainment channels to register growth. However, there was no change in the pecking order.
According to data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 1 of TAM 2015 (December 28 – January 3) for CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus strengthened its leadership with maximum growth in viewership followed by Colors at No. 2 and Zee TV at No. 3. Life OK, SAB TV and Sony were at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
Star Plus recorded gross viewership of 654 GTVM with a relative share of 24.57% (last week 596 GTVM and 23.64% relative share).
Colors too added more eyeballs this week and grew to 520 GTVM. The channel had a relative share of 19.53% (last week 492 GTVM and 19.53% % relative share).
Zee TV recorded a gross viewership of 430 GTVM with a relative share of 16.15% (last week 427 GTVM and 16.95% % relative share).
Life OK added a few eyeballs this week and recorded 338 GTVM with a relative share of 12.70% (last week 329 TVM and 13.06% relative share).
SAB TV also witnessed growth andrecorded gross viewership of 335 GTVM with 12.53% relative share (last week 320 GTVM and 12.68% relative share).
Sony’s viewership jumped to 264 GTVM with a relative share of 9.92% (last week 237 GTVM and 9.39% relative share).
Big Magic dropped to 61 GTVM and a relative share of 2.29% (last week 63 GTVM and 2.52% relative share).
Zindagi recorded viewership at 28 GTVM with a relative share of 1.05% (last week 29 GTVM and 1.13% % relative share).
Sony Pal grew to 26 GTVM with a relative share of 0.98% (last week 23 GTVM and 0.91% relative share).
Epic recorded a gross viewership of 6.3 GTVM against last week’s 5.3 GTVM.
