GEC Watch: Star Plus crosses 700 mn-mark; Life OK retains No. 3 position

Zee TV gains maximum 56 TVMs on the back of television premiere of ‘Mein Tera Hero’ in Week 27 that beats ‘Dhoom 3’ premiere on Sony last week.

Star Plus and Zee TV were the only two Hindi general entertainment channels to grow in Week 27 of TAM 2014. While Star Plus’ growth helped it cross 700 million-mark this week, Zee TV added maximum 56 TVMs on the back of the television premiere of ‘Mein Tera Hero’that surprised all by beating ‘Dhoom 3’ premiere on Sony a week ago.

According to data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 27 of TAM 2014 (June 29 – July 5) for CS 4+, HSM markets, Life OK retained No. 3 position followed by Colors, Sony and SAB TV at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.

Star Plusstrengthened its leadership by adding 44 TVM in Week 27 and crossed the 700 million-mark yet again. The channel fetched a gross viewership of 704 GTVMs with a relative share of 29.15% (last week 660 TVM with 27.26% relative share).

Zee TV added maximum 56 TVMs on the back of the world television premiere of ‘Main Tera Hero’ and recorded 479 GTVM. The channel had a relative share of 19.83% (last week 423 TVM and 17.47% relative share).

Life OK retained its No. 3 position in the second consecutive week despite a slight drop in its viewership. The channel fetched a gross viewership of 348 GTVM and a relative share of 14.41% (last week 358 TVM and 14.79%).

Colors dropped further to 320 GTVM with a relative share of 13.25% (last week 351 TVM with 14.50% relative share).

Sony lost maximum 61 TVM this week and dropped to 288 TVM. The channel had a relative share of 11.93% (last week 349 TVM and 14.42% relative share).

SAB TV too witnessed a slight decline in its viewership and recorded 276 TVM with a relative share of 11.43% (last week 280 TVM and 11.57% relative share).
