GEC Watch: Star Plus emerges as the leader in every slot in weekday primetime barring 8 PM

Zee TV grabbed the top slot among weekday shows with Jodha Akbar taking the No. 1 slot in Week 6 of TAM 2014. However, the highlight of the week was the performance of six-day fiction programming of Star Plus. The move became hugely successful and pushed Star Plus beyond the 700 million GTVMs mark which is a record television viewership in India. While Star Plus emerged as the leader in every slot in weekday primetime except 8 PM, the channel grabbed six slots in the top 10 weekday shows.

According to TVT data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 6 of TAM 2014 (February 2 – February 8) CS 4+, HSM markets, Zee TV held three slots in the top 10 list leaving one for SAB TV. After a long time, Colors had no show among the top 10 weekend shows.

Colors continued to hold the top two slots during the weekend with ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ and ‘India’s Got Talent’.

Star Guild Awards on Star Plus rated 8.1 TVM.

Weekday toppers (all data in TVM, 000000’s)

Jodha Akbar on Zee TV finally topped the chart by taking a huge jump in its viewership in Week 6. The show fetched an average viewership of 13.2 TVM (last week 11.1 TVM).

Diya Aur Baati Hum on Star Plus slipped to No. 2 despite adding more viewers this week. The show recorded 12.4 TVM this week (last week 12 TVM).

Star Plus’ Saathiya held the No. 3 position with 9.8 TVM (last week 10.2).

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai on Star Plus jumped to No. 4 position with an average viewership of 8.2 TVM (last week 7.9 TVM).

Star Plus’ epic series, Mahabharat, entered the top 5 club for the first time with 7.9 TVM (last week 7.1 TVM).

SAB’s Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashma slipped two positions to No. 6 with an average viewership of 7.6 TVM against last week’s 8.9 TVM.

Pyaar Ka Dard Hai on Star Plus climbed three rungs to No. 7 by recording 7 TVM (last week 6.4 TVM).

Saraswatichandra on Star Plus was the new entrant in the top 10 club with an average viewership of 6.7 TVM (last week 5.9 TVM).

Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke on Zee TV slipped one position to No. 9 this week. The show garnered an average viewership of 6.6 TVM (last week 6.8 TVM).

Qubool Hai on Zee TV also slipped three positions to No. 10 with an average viewership of 6.4 TVM (last week 6.9 TVM).

Weekend toppers

Comedy Night with Kapil on Colors topped the weekend chart but the show witnessed a slight decline in its viewership. It garnered 7.3 TVM in Week 6 (last week 8.9).

Colors’ India’s Got Talent too witnessed a drop in viewership recording 5.9 TVM (last week 7.4).

Life OK’s Shapath recorded 4.5 TVM (last week 4.6).

Hatim onLife OK fetched 4.2 TVM (last week 4.1).

Sony’s crime series, CID, fetched 3.8 TVM against last week’s 4.1 TVM.

Dance India Dance Season 4 on Zee TV had an average viewership of 3.7 TVM (last week 3.8 TVM).

Sony’s other crime show, Crime Patrol, garnered 3.1 TVM (last week 3.1).

Fear Files on Zee TV was unmoved and recorded 2.7 TVM (last week 2.7).

Boogie Woogie on Sony dropped to 1.7 TVM (last week 2.8).

Bh Se Bhade on Zee TV fetched 1.5 TVM (last week 1.6).

Star India enters into partnership with International Hockey Federation

Nitin Kukreja, head of sports business, Star India said, “Hockey is a priority sport for us and we are thrilled that India will host one key event every year during the eight year term. Nitin Kukreja, head of sports business, says, “This time we will be airing 24 matches in the prime time band at 8 pm. This is a learning from the previous season. Also, we had added some new features in the live telecast that should make for better and more interesting viewing.”
