GEC Watch: Weekday programming dominates Week 42

Star Plus leads weekday programming with 4 shows in top 10 followed by Zee TV with three shows, Colors with two shows and SAB TV with one show.
According to data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 42 of TAM 2014 (October 12 – October 18) for CS 4+, HSM markets, the week was dominated by weekday programming that grew across Hindi general entertainment channels.
While Star Plus retained the top slot with ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’, it led the weekday programming with four shows in the top 10. Zee TV had three shows in the top 10 followed by Colors with two shows and SAB TV with one show.
‘Bigg Boss Season 8’ on Colors grew further in its fourth week and fetched an average viewership of 4.6 TVM against last week’s average of 4.5 TVM.
Comedy Night with Kapil continued to rule the weekend programming with improved viewership of 6.7 TVM.
Weekday toppers (all data in TVM, 000000’s)
Star Plus’ Diya Aur Baati Hum retained the top slot recording an average viewership of 9.1 TVM this week (last week 8.5 TVM).
Star Plus’ Sathiya Saath Nibhana held No. 2 position with an average viewership of 8.1 TVM (last week 7.9 TVM).
Zee TV’s Jodha Akbar was unmoved at No. 3 position fetching an average viewership of 8 TVM (last week 7.7 TVM).
Ye Hai Mohabbatein on Star Plus continued to perform well in the 7.30 PM slot. The show recorded 7.5 TVM this week (last week 7.4 TVM).
Kumkum Bhagya on Zee TV also retained fifth position with an average viewership of 7.4 TVM (last week 7 TVM).
Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai was at No. 6. The show recorded an average viewership of 6.8 TVM (last week 6.6 TVM).
Colors’ Sasural Simar Ka jumped one position to No. 7 with an average viewership of 6.7 TVM (last week 5.8 TVM).
Jamai Raja on Zee TV slipped one position to No. 8. The show garnered an average viewership of 6.6 TVM (last week 6.2 TVM).
Tarak Mehta on SAB TV held No. 9 position with an average viewership of 6 TVM against last week’s 5.8 TVM.
Udaan on Colors remained in top-10 club with an average viewership of 6 TVM (last week 5.5 TVM).
Weekend toppers
Comedy Nights with Kapil on Colors retained the top position among weekend shows. The show fetched an average viewership of 6.7 TVM (last week 6.2 TVM).
Sony’s crime series, CID, fetched 2.8 TVM against last week’s 1.3 TVM.
Satyamev Jayate Season 3 dropped to 2.4 TVM in its second week after opening at 4.9 TVM.
Zee TV’s Neeli Chhatri Wale recorded a viewership of 2.4 TVM (last week 2.4 TVM).
Dil Se Naache Indiwaale on Zee TV dropped to 2.2 TVM after launching at 2.7 TVM.
Star Plus’ weekend singing reality show, India’s Raw Star, also dropped to 2 TVM (last week 2.6 TVM).
Sony’s another crime series, Crime Patrol, dropped to 1.6 TVM against last week’s 2 TVM.
Life OK’s Dare to Dance grew to 1.6 TVM (last week 1.5 TVM).
Airlines on Star Plus fetched 1.5 TVM (last week 1.9).
