GEC Watch: Weekday shows on Star Plus attract more eyeballs in Week 2 of TAM 2014

The second week of TAM 2014 witnessed jump in viewership of weekday and weekend shows. While weekday shows on Star Plus and Zee TV attracted more eyeballs this week, Colors ruled the weekend shows. ‘India’s Got Talent’ had a grand opening with 9.4 TVM. Star Plus’ Nach Baliye also grew on the back of the Salman Khan special episode.

According to TVT data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 2 of TAM 2014 (January 5 – January 11) CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus continued to dominate the weekday programming with five of its shows in the top 10. Zee TV held three slots, leaving one each for Colors and SAB TV.

The weekend programming was dominated by ‘Comedy Night with Kapil’ on Colors which witnessed further surge in ratings. India’s Got Talent was second most watched show in the weekend with 9.4 TVM.

Among new shows, ‘Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya’ on Zee TV launched well at 4.0 TVM.

Weekday toppers (all data in TVM, 000000’s)

Diya Aur Baati Hum on Star Plus stayed at the top of the chart with 12.6 TVM this week (last week 12.8 TVM).

Jodha Akbar on Zee TV grew further and fetched 11 TVM (last week 10.9 TVM).

Star Plus’ Saathiya continued to grow this week as well and jumped one position to No. 3. The show fetched 10.7 TVM (last week 10.2).

SAB’s Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashma slipped to No. 4 position with an average viewership of 9.2 TVM against last week’s 10.3 TVM.

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai on Star Plus held No. 5 position with an average viewership of 8.7 TVM (last week 8 TVM).

Star Plus’ epic series, Mahabharat, jumped one position to No. 6. The show recorded an average TVM of 7.8 TVM (last week 6.8 TVM).

Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke on Zee TV slipped one position to No. 7 recording 7.7 TVM (last week 6.9 TVM).

Pyaar Ka Dard Hai was at No. 8 with 7.3 TVM (last week 6.6 TVM).

Qubool Hai on Zee TV grew one position up at No. 9 with an average viewership of 6.7 TVM (last week 6.1).

Balika Vadhu on Colors dropped to No. 10 position garnering 6.6 TVM (last week 6.6 TVM).

Weekend toppers

Comedy Night with Kapil on Colors started airing twice a week again and grew to 10.4 TVM (last week 9).

Colors’ new weekend offering India’s Got Talent opened strong at 9.4 TVM as remained the second most watched show during the weekend.

Nach Baliye 6 on Star Plus moved up and fetched 5.3 TVM (last week 3.5 TVM).

Sony’s crime series, CID, dropped to 4.5 TVM against last week’s 4.7 TVM.

Dance India Dance Season 4 recorded 4.4 TVM (last week 4 TVM).

Life OK’s Shapath recorded 3.8 TVM (last week 3.6).

Hatim onLife OK fetched 3.7 TVM (last week 3.8).

Sony’s other crime show, Crime Patrol, dropped to 3.4 TVM (last week 3.2 TVM).

Boogie Woogie on Sony recorded 2.7 TVM in its third week (last week 2.5).

Bh Se Bhade on Zee TV fetched 2.2 TVM (last week 1.5 TVM).

Star Plus’ crime fiction, Arjun, recorded 1.9 TVM (last week 1.6 TVM).
