GEC Watch: Zee TV turns the heat in weekday programming, grabs top 2 slots

Zee TV and Star Plus have four shows each among the top 10 shows followed by Colors and SAB TV with one show each in Week 34 of TAM 2014.

The week saw the launch of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ on Sony, ‘Udaan’ on Colors and ‘Nisha Aur Uske Cousins’ on Star Plus in the weekday primetime 8.30 PM slot. KBC’s grand premiere night on Sunday, August 17, fetched 9 TVM for Sony across 3 hours. The show later averaged at 5.2 TVM during the first week.
Colors’ ‘Udaan’ opened at an average viewership of 3.7 TVM while Star Plus’ ‘Nisha Aur Uske Cousins’ opened at 3 TVM.
According to data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 34 of TAM 2014 (August 17 – August 23) for CS 4+, HSM markets, Zee TV led weekday programming with four shows in the top 10 with two of its shows taking the top 2 positions. Star Plus too had four shows in the top 10 followed by Colors and SAB TV with one show each.
Colors ruled the weekend with ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ at the top of the chart followed by ‘Jhalak Dikkhla Ja’ and ‘The Anupam Kher Show’.

Jodha Akbar on Zee TV climbed 4 positions this week to claim the top slot. The weekday topper fetched an average viewership of 8.9 TVM (last week 7.5 TVM).
Zee TV also held No. 2 position with Kumkum Bhagya that jumped two positions this week. The show had an average viewership of 8.1 TVM this week (last week 8 TVM).
Diya Aur Baati Hum on Star Plus slipped two positions to No. 3 this week with an average viewership of 7.3 TVM (last week 10.7 TVM).
Star Plus’ Saathiya also slipped two positions to No. 4. The show had an average viewership of 7.2 TVM (last week 9.5).
Jamai Raja on Zee TV, that entered the top 10 club last week, jumped 5 positions this week to be among top-5 shows. The show had an average viewership of 6.7 TVM (last week 5.5 TVM).
Qubool Hai on Zee TV climbed one position to No. 6 with an average viewership of 6.2 TVM (last week 6.2).
Taarak MehtaKa Ooltah Chashma on SAB TV made a comeback in top-10 club this week with an average viewership of 6.2 TVM (last week 5.5 TVM).
Colors’ Sasural Simar Ka held No. 8 position with an average viewership of 6.1 TVM (last week 6.2 TVM).
Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai slipped 3 positions to No. 9 this week. The show recorded an average viewership of 5.9 TVM (last week 7.4 TVM).
Yeh Hai Mohabbatein on Star Plus was at No. 10 with an average viewership of 5.9 TVM (last week 5.9 TVM).
Weekend toppers
Comedy Night with Kapil on Colors continued to lead weekend programming. The show fetched an average viewership of 6.5 TVM (last week 6.8).
Colors’ celebrity dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa fetched an average viewership of 3.9 TVM (last week 4.8).
Colors’ ‘The Anupam Kher Show’, rose to 3.8 TVM (last week 2.1 TVM).
Sony’s crime series, CID, fetched 3.7 TVM against last week’s 4.1 TVM.
Shapath on Life OK dropped to 2.2 TVM (last week 2.2).
India’s Best Cine Star Ki Khoj on Zee TV grew to 2.2 TVM (last week 1.8).
Sony’s second crime show, Crime Patrol, garnered 1.7 TVM (last week 1.7).
Hatim on Life OK retained its viewership at 1.6 TVM against last week’s 1.6 TVM.
