Gurjeev Singh to head Star India’s international business

Singh, who was Chief Operating Officer of MediaPro, will move to Star International once the transition of MediaPro is complete

Star India has appointed Gurjeev Singh, who helped drive growth at the broadcaster’s distribution joint venture MediaPro, as the head of its International business.

Singh will move to Star International once the transition of MediaPro is complete. As Chief Operating Officer of MediaPro, Singh led the team to create an extraordinarily successful venture that grew the network’s distribution footprint by accelerating digitization and pushing the envelope on transparency. Singh shaped industry best practices for distribution as it moved from analog to digital. 

“The International Business has huge growth potential which has not yet been fully tapped and we believe Gurjeev will add tremendous value to the organization and will build on the foundations that have been put in place and take the International business to new heights,” Sanjay Gupta, COO, Star India, said. “Gurjeev shares our values and our focus on the business and he has proved to be an extraordinary leader throughout his stint with Star and its ventures.”

Singh, who is known for his out-of-box thinking and his role in getting several start-ups up and running, is Mechanical Engineer and also holds a master’s degree in Business Management from, ‘Faculty of Management Studies’, Delhi University. Prior to his role at MediaPro, Singh has had stints with ESPN Star Sports, where he handled various roles in sales, marketing and distribution of the channels in South Asian countries, Set Discovery & Star Den Media Services.

Star India enters into partnership with International Hockey Federation

Star India has bagged the broadcasts rights from International Hockey Federation (FIH) in an eight-year deal.
