ICC World Cup 2015 was watched by 635 million viewers in India

 The ICC cricket World Cup that ended earlier this week was watched by 635 million Indians till the semi-final stage, making it the most watched event in the history of Indian television, according to the official broadcaster of the tournament Star India.

India's semi-final clash with Australia broke the record with 309 million Indians tuning in to see India battle it out to reach the finals. In comparison, the India-Pakistan group stage match was watched by 288 million people in the country.
The India-Australia match rated 15 TVR across the Star network including DD and 12.7 TVR on Star Network and 2.3 TVR on DD (TAM data M15+ ABC).
This World Cup, 77% of the viewership came from Hindi and regional feeds, which included broadcast of the tournament in Bengali, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.
"ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 has been an epic event in terms of scale, reach and following. With over 600 million viewers, largest aggregation of advertisers ever, and one of the most talked about marketing campaigns, this edition has validated that there is nothing bigger than the World Cup for Indian consumers," said Uday Shankar, CEO, Star India.
Star India's 'Mauka' campaign went viral through the World Cup with over 33 million views online making it amongst the most viewed campaigns ever on digital in India, according to Star India.
Through the tournament, social media sites saw hectic activity around the World Cup with a record 750,000 unique authors driving 3.6 million conversations with a reach of over 44 billion potential impressions.
