ITF will help Indian ideas go international

13 August 2012

IBF (Indian Broadcasting Foundation) is all set to give the Indian television industry its biggest platform dedicated to broadcasters in India in the form of Indian TV Fest, also called ITF. The event is scheduled to be held at the Baga Grounds, Goa on November 2 and 3, 2012. exchange4media is the exclusive industry partner for ITF 2012.

The two-day fest is a unique platform for the Indian and global broadcasting industry to network and exchange ideas through panel discussions and master classes.

Uday Shankar, CEO, STAR India said that today the audience wants to know what is happening in the television industry and in what direction the industry is headed. The event would be important to television viewers who have evolved over time and are keen on industry trends. Hence, ITF would not only prove beneficial to the industry but the audience as well.

“The television industry is more than 20 years old and it has grown from a Rs 200-300 crore business to a multiple revenue industry. There are lots of opportunities that can be foreseen and the speakers of the forum will delve into such topics,” said Sunil Lulla, MD and CEO, Times Television Network.

According to Lulla, there are a lot of interesting formats that are entering India and it is time for Indian ideas to go international.

Talking about investments, Shankar said, “We need to brainstorm to explore ways through which we can attract revenues – be it domestic or foreign. Such discussions are necessary to take the industry to the next level.

According to Shankar the idea is to discuss issues pertaining to content, business and technology.

Lulla shared that ITF would cover youth, sports, technology, services and ideas. It is a festival to benefit the television community but the conversations and the ideation wouldn’t be restricted and would also extend beyond the normal definition of television. “Creativity is a process of pushing boundaries continuously and ITF would present itself to be such a platform,” he concluded.
