Press Release

Its '4 shanivaar, premiere 4' this time for STAR Gold

6 June 2014

In June, the channel will premiere Gang of Ghosts, O Teri, Game and Hawaa Hawaai on the four Saturdays.

Starting tomorrow, June 7, STAR Gold, the Hindi movie channel from the STAR India stable, will premiere four movies back-to-back on every Saturday of the month.

The strategy has earlier been adopted by the channel's sister movie channels, STAR Movies and Movies OK. In 2012, Movies OK had announced the premiere of seven movies back-to-back just after the telecast of the Indian Premiere League. STAR Movies did the same thing, wherein it aired '7days, 7 premieres' on the channel.

STAR Gold has titled the 8 pm slot on Saturday as '4 shanivaar, premiere 4'. The movie fiesta will kick start with the premiere of 'Gang of Ghosts', a paranormal comedy film featuring Sharman Joshi, Anupam Kher and Mahi Gill, on June 7.

The tempo will be further built with the premiere of 'O Teri', a youthful comedy film featuring Pulkit Samrat and Sarah-Jane Dias, on June 14. This will be followed by the premiere of 'Game', an action thriller film featuring Abhishek Bachchan and Kangna Ranaut, on June 21. And lastly, the channel will air the television premiere of the acclaimed film 'Hawaa Hawaai', featuring Saqib Saleem and Partho Gupte, on June 28.

Talking about the rationale behind this band, Hemal Jhaveri, executive vice-president, STAR Gold, says, "In today's scenario, it has become essential for every channel to experiment with its programming and offer something distinct in terms of content. From our movie promos to content packaging, we have always attempted to offer a unique experience to our viewers and '4 shanivaar, premiere 4' is another attempt to bring alive this philosophy."

In early 2014, STAR Gold had announced the acquisition of telecast rights of 18 movies for 11 years with a clause of unlimited runs across the network. Of these, four movies were a part of an older deal (in 2013) with Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn, respectively.

The other movies which are a part of the fresh (2014) deal are Bombay Velvet (Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma), Bang Bang (Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif), Roy (Ranbir Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez and Arjun Rampal), Hamshakals (Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh and Bipasha Basu), Bobby Jasoos (Vidya Balan), Creature, Traffic (Manoj Bajpayee, Jimmy Shergill, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Parambrata Chatterjee and Divya Dutta), Sonali Cable (Rhea Chakraborty and Ali Fazal), and Bhaag Johnny (Kunal Khemu and Zoa Morani).
