Life OK announces bold social thriller ‘Laut Aao Trisha’

17 July 2014

The weekly show will premiere on July 21 and air Monday to Friday at 10 PM. Bollywood actress, Bhagyashree, will play the lead role.

What happens if a teenage daughter goes missing one day? Society speculates and immediately the girl’s character is questioned, right? But what if the person who has committed the crime is from the family? Life OK, which has always strived to provide shows with something different, has launched ‘Laut Aao Trisha’, a show in the social thriller genre, which revolves around the quest of a mother in search of her missing daughter.

It will premiere on July 21 and will air Monday to Friday at 10 PM. The weekly serial is initially slated for around 250 episodes and will be replacing ‘Welcome’ in the 10 PM slot.

Ajit Thakur, General Manager, Life OK, said, “In our quest to find new sources of content, we have adapted the Spanish telenovela ‘Donde esta Elisa’. Compared to the original series, ‘Laut Aao Trisha’ has been toned down keeping in mind the Indian audience and their acceptability. But it will still be by far one of the boldest shows on television.”

“We have always been conscious of presenting socially relevant issues and ‘Laut Aao Trisha’ is one such show which, with its bold content, borders on thrill, suspense, family drama and touches upon the concept of in-family crimes. We had earlier aired ‘Dil Se Di Dua… Saubhagyavati Bhava’ which passed on a social message against domestic violence in this genre,” added Thakur.

The channel claimed it is not looking at any competition. “In the 10 PM time band, with this new show, I won’t be competing with any other GEC. We are the youngest and if we make a mistake, we will learn from it, and if it works, then well for us. We have nothing to lose from this,” said Thakur.

On marketing of ‘Laut Aao Trisha’, Sushma Rajesh, VP – Marketing, Life OK, said, “Digital spend is disproportionate for the show. We have used this medium extensively because we believe the show will live on digital. We have also used outdoor and television – the promos have been running across channels.”

The serial will see Bollywood actress, Bhagyashree, in the lead role along with popular television faces such as Jai Kalra, Rajeshwari Badola and Eijaz Khan. Bhagyashree, who essays the role of Amrita, an adamant mother, will leave no stone unturned to search her missing daughter. At every level, as the mystery unfolds, there will be new suspects from within the family. It is produced by 24 Frames’ Nandita Mehra and Bhairavi Raichura.

Is the Media in trouble? Mumbai Press Club holds discussion on subject

Uday Shankar, Star India CEO said, “Just because the media has become capital-intensive, doesn’t mean that it has to compromise on your integrity. Every business has to have a value system, and the editor needs to be sensitive to that. Journalists need to wake up to the economic reality, and it can’t be denied. On the other hand, those who recognise that are willing to swing to the other extreme and do anything. That also is neither healthy nor sustainable.”
