15 January 2016

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo not only grossed over 400 Crore worldwide, it also left an indelible mark on the hearts of millions around the globe! Star Gold, the Home of Blockbusters, announces the World Television Premiere of this Salman Khan Starrer magnum opus that reunited the superstar with his mentor Sooraj Barjatiya after 16 long years. The duo that gave Indian Cinema classics like Maine Pyaar Kiya, Hum Saath Saath Hai, Hum Aapke Hai Koun and eternalized Salman Khan as the quintessential Prem have once again left the world enthralled, with the beauty & simplicity of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’s story and its sheer cinematic brilliance. Star Gold now brings this magic to your home screens this February, promising to create new benchmarks for film television premieres.
The film that had a cataclysmic impact on the viewers saw superstar Salman Khan in a unique double role, one as the fun-loving, self-sacrificing middle-classed Prem Dilwala, and the other as the royal prince Yuvraj Vijay Singh. The story engages as Prem Dilwala is called to replace his lookalike Yuvraj Vijay to dodge a conspiracy being plotted by the Prince’s family.  The gorgeous Sonam Kapoor beautifully essays the character of Princess Maithili, who is engaged to be married to Vijay but falls in love with Prem. Anupam Kher, Swara Bhaskar, Armaan Kohli and Deepak Dobriyal shine as the supporting cast adding great charisma to their character and the film.
Stunningly opulent and magnificent in its depiction of royalty, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is a perfect family watch! The emotionally engaging film makes you experience the qualities like pure love and unfaltering support for the family that have grown to be synonymous with a Sooraj Barjatya film. And if that wasn’t enough, it has the country’s biggest superstar Salman Khan essaying his character that embodies the essence of true love (prem) to perfection.
The Prem that you fell in love with in Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Hum Saath Saath Hain is back, in an avatar even more charming!
2014 belonged to Kick, 2015 belonged to Bajrangi Bhaijaan and 2016 will belong to Prem!

Star Plus general manager Gaurav Banerjee says: “The story is urban and contemporary. This love story begins after a marriage gets over. It explores the theme of a second chance in love. With well-etched characters and a strong urban narrative, the show deals with day-to-day issues faced by modern couples. We are positive that our metro audiences will see a connect with Ishita and Raman, and follow their story.”

Indian mythology serials still a hit on TV

Star India and Zee TV say the focus on making the stories relevant to today's generation has led to the success. "Vyasa wrote the Mahabharat after the Vedas, to convey the same message as the Vedas but through a story," says Star India's programming head Danish Khan.
