Star Plus replaces India’s Raw Star with Private Investigator

2 December 2014

Premiering on December 7, the detective drama series will be telecast every Sunday at 8 PM

Star Plus is all set to launch a detective drama series ‘Private Investigator’ in place of its recently concluded singing realty show ‘India’s Raw Stars’. Private Investigator is a thrilling journey with Raffe Roy Chaudhary who with his extraordinary observation skills goes about solving crimes that baffle even the police, defying the age old belief of age brings wisdom. Premiering on December 7, the show will be telecast every Sunday at 8 PM.
Produced by Freemantle media and conceptualised by Sourabh Ratnu, Private Investigator is jointly directed by Sourabh Ratnu and Anusha Rizvi. Sandhya Mridul & Vrajesh Hirjee will be seen making a comeback on Indian television through Private Investigator.
Raffe Roy Chaudhary (Mrinal Dutt), a 21-year-old criminology student, fashions himself as a PI as a result of his solitary upbringing and the unanswered questions about his past. Equipped with nothing but his unique observational skills and superior intellect, he teams up with the comical and simple-minded inspector Tiwari (Vrajesh Hirjee) to solve crimes with no apparent motives or suspects. Raffe steps out in the dark & dangerous world of crime as the youngest private investigator solving one new case every week.
Unlike the run of the mill detectives on Indian Television who are loud and boisterous, Raffe is calm and reserved. He is emotionally attached to his mother, Anita Roy Chaudhary (Sandhya Mridul) who has kept him away from a dark secret about his past that could change his life forever. During this journey of unearthing mysteries, we will see the young Raffe becoming smarter, overcoming fears and understanding the world around him better.

Star Plus' rejigged programming pays off

Gaurav Bannerjee, Head, Star Plus explains, “While it is true that the increase in ratings is a result of extendng the weekday strategy to Saturday, I also believe it is because of the stickiness of our content. Our weekday prime time has 11 shows out of which almost 5 to 6 are in the top ten every week. So our content, which we have worked very hard to suit the contemporary Indian woman across geographies, has found a hook with our audience."

The tussle over live cricket scores

Ajit Mohan, Head, New Media, Star India said, “Digital should be an incremental leap in the way people consume sports. But if you look at the current crop of digital sports service companies, it has been a huge regressive step backwards, because essentially you’re trying to describe a match through text commentary."
