Star World Innovates yet again to launch an exciting weekend proposition – Star World Weekend Binge

31 March 2015

Starting 25th April, viewers will get a chance to consume entire series of their favourite shows at one go!

Mumbai, March 31, 2015: Star World, India’s Preferred English General Entertainment Channel, has a new surprise in store for all its viewers – the Star World Weekend Binge. Keeping in mind the growing need for uninterrupted entertainment, Star World Weekend Binge will give viewers a chance to watch entire season of television's most popular series at one go. Breaking the category custom of showing old reruns over weekends, Star World will premiere over 7 shows in just 13 weeks. Come 25th April, the channel will launch the property with a season premiere of ShondaRhimes and America’s obsession of 2014 - How to Get Away with Murder. The show has been a raging success in the US and with this season premiere on Star World, the Weekend TV is set to become far more engaging and fun! The other big shows lined up for the quarter include James Spader’s The Blacklist S1 followed by the premiere of S2. Star World Weekend Binge will air every Saturday and Sunday 12 noon onwards and include the latest seasons of Modern Family, New Girl, Two and a Half Men amongst others.

An innovative property demands an innovative launch and Star World has put together a unique marketing program to build visibility and awareness for this concept. The channel for the very first time has ventured into creating a Mascot for the property. The mascot is called Binge Baba, an animated character, who will play a crucial role to connect, engage and excite consumers about Star World Weekend Binge. The channel is creating an all-out marketing campaign with focus on TV, Digital and On-Ground consumer and trade centric campaigns.

Speaking on this innovative property, a Star spokesperson, said, “As a premiere destination in the English Entertainment Category, our viewers have come to expect a lot from Star World. There is a growing International trend of content being consumed at one go and a very similar trend is emerging even in India. But currently in our country the avenues to partake in this trend are very limited and practically non-existential. As leaders of the category we are taking the initiative of filling this void with fresh and uninterrupted premium English programming and supporting it with a path-breaking marketing program. The Star World Weekend Binge is going to be for those viewers who can’t wait to watch what happens next and want to consume the complete story at one go.”

Star World Weekend Binge starts April 25, every weekend 12PM onwards only on Star World and Star World HD!
