Come January, Star World Premiere will see a new action sci-fi show titled ‘Intelligence’. The channel will also air the latest season of ‘American Horror Show – Coven’

Star India has announced a strong line-up for the New Year with a host of new shows that will air on Star World and Star World Premiere in 2014. Star World Premiere, which launched in September 2013, has already taken the TV viewers by storm with its dynamic content. The channel is a pioneering initiative by the Star network to present brand new content to Indian audiences with the latest episodes of their favourite shows broadcasting simultaneously in the USA.

Kevin Vaz, General Manager – English channels, Star India, said, “We’ve got some great shows scheduled to air in the New Year. We will be showing new seasons of a few old favourites as well as some brand new shows. 2014 is going to see some excellent television content from the Star Network.”

Come January, Star World Premiere will see a new action sci-fi show titled ‘Intelligence’ where Josh Holloway stars as former Delta Force turned US Cyber Command über-agent in a crime thriller that explores the unlimited possibilities of technology. With a special microchip implanted in his brain, he has become the first super computer with a beating heart.

The channel will also air the latest season of ‘American Horror Show – Coven’, an anthology series that centres on different characters and locations, including a haunted house, an insane asylum and a witch coven.

Star World Premiere is also expected to air a new comedy/drama called ‘Rake’ in February that follows the chaotic world of criminal defence lawyer Cleaver Greene played by Greg Kinnear.

A new comedy/drama that will air on Star World is ‘Bunheads’, the tale of Michelle Simms, a former ballerina ‘bunhead’ who wound up as a Las Vegas showgirl. Star World will also feature new seasons of some old favourites like ‘Melissa and Joey’ starring Melissa Joan Hart, a local politician, alone with her niece, Lennox, and nephew, Ryder. She hires a man named Joe to become the family’s male nanny, or “manny”. The channel will also air the first and second season of ‘Suburgatory’, a series that follows George Altman, a single father who decides to get away from New York City to the suburbs so he can give his teenage daughter, Tessa, a better life.

Is the Media in trouble? Mumbai Press Club holds discussion on subject

Uday Shankar, Star India CEO said, “Just because the media has become capital-intensive, doesn’t mean that it has to compromise on your integrity. Every business has to have a value system, and the editor needs to be sensitive to that. Journalists need to wake up to the economic reality, and it can’t be denied. On the other hand, those who recognise that are willing to swing to the other extreme and do anything. That also is neither healthy nor sustainable.”

Channel V plans more events

Prem Kamath, channel head, Channel V, adds, "Participation has gone up by almost 100 per cent. We have had 500-600 participants earlier, this year we had about 1000 participants in each zonal."
