Star, Zee set up separate sales team after Media Pro break-up

29 May 2014

MediaPro was set up between Zee Turner Ltd and Star Den Media Services Pvt. Ltd to jointly distribute their channel bouquets.

Broadcasters Star India Pvt. Ltd and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd have set up independent sales teams for their respective channels after the break-up of their three-year-old distribution venture Media Pro Enterprises India Pvt. Ltd.

MediaPro was set up between Zee Turner Ltd and Star Den Media Services Pvt. Ltd to jointly distribute their channel bouquets. The joint venture was dissolved in April, following a change in regulations notified by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) to disallow aggregation of channels of multiple broadcasters in one bouquet.

Both Star and Zee have been beefing up their independent sales teams. Turner will continue to distribute their channels with Zee, said Punit Goenka, managing director and chief executive officer, ZEE, in an earlier interview.
