THE END OF AN ERA: THE FINAL SEVEN EPISODES OF “MAD MEN” TO PREMIERE IN INDIA ON APRIL 6TH, ONLY ON STAR WORLD PREMIERE HD

Mumbai, March 09, 2015: Starting April 6th, Star World Premiere HD brings to its Indian viewers a chance to witness the high-powered world of advertising, set in 1960s, with the highly anticipated series conclusion of Mad Men. The seventh and final season of the American drama television series consists of 14 episodes, split into two parts. The first half titled ‘The Beginning’, aired in 2014. The second half – titled ‘The End of an Era’ – will, for the last time, follow the complex lives of Don, Peggy, Roger, Joan, Betty and Pete, and their families, colleagues, rivals and love interests, as their stories come to an end.

Mad Men is created by Matthew Weiner and features an award-winning ensemble cast, including Jon Hamm, January Jones, Elisabeth Moss, Vincent Kartheiser, Christina Hendricks, John Slattery, Jessica Paré, Rich Sommer, Aaron Staton, Robert Morse, Kiernan Shipka, Jay Ferguson, and Christopher Stanley. Set in March of 1960 at the start of Season 1 and moving into 1969 at the start of Season 7, the plot focuses on the business of the advertising agencies as well as the personal lives of the characters and explores the changing moods and social mores of the United States of America in the 1960’s.

Commenting on his experience of working on Mad Men, Emmy® Award winning show-creator Matthew Weiner said, “What an incredible journey this has been. The show has earned multiple nominations and awards, including seven Emmy® Award nominations for Outstanding Drama Series, leading to four wins; three Golden Globe® Awards for Best Television Drama Series; a Peabody Award; three Producers Guild Awards; four Writers Guild Awards; two BAFTA Awards; five Television Critics Association Awards, including Program of the Year; and for seven consecutive years it has been named as one of AFI’s ‘Top 10 Outstanding Television Programs’.

Uday Shankar, Star India CEO said, “Just because the media has become capital-intensive, doesn’t mean that it has to compromise on your integrity. Every business has to have a value system, and the editor needs to be sensitive to that. Journalists need to wake up to the economic reality, and it can’t be denied. On the other hand, those who recognise that are willing to swing to the other extreme and do anything. That also is neither healthy nor sustainable.”

Prem Kamath, channel head, Channel V, adds, "Participation has gone up by almost 100 per cent. We have had 500-600 participants earlier, this year we had about 1000 participants in each zonal."
