Why Aamir Khan Could Not Say ‘no’ to Star CEO Uday Shankar ?

25 June 2014

For the first time, Bollywood star Aamir Khan, who never accepted an award in India so far relaxed his own rule and accepted Star CEO Uday Shankar’s plea to accept the Star Parivaar Award at an event in Mumbai on Sunday.

It was three years ago that Uday Shankar drove to Aamir Khan to discuss the concept of reality show ‘Satyamev Jayate’ that was meant to revolutionize the way news is analyzed on TV and the impact is left for all to see. Both had seen the purpose of social service in doing the show and as Uday Shankar is known for his pro-active role in pushing innovative shows on Star network was able to convince Aamir Khan to do the show that was hugely successful.

Aamir Khan reiterated that “through TV, I am bringing forward social causes and move towards a better future,” while accepting the award. He is shooting for the third season of Satyamev Jayate.

More than that, both legendaries share same values for social upheavals and the way humans are treated.

“We are currently working on the third season of Satyamev Jayate. We are researching on the topics and it is going good,” said Aamir Khan.

What made him accept the Star Parivaar Award? “I have been working with Star for many months and when they invited me, I was happy to come,” he said.

Satyamev Jayate went on air on Star Plus in May 2012, again in March 2014 with the second season and the third season is likely to be shown next year.

The Star Parivaar Awards, especially Aamir Khan’s receiving the award, will be telecast on June 29.
